The Lead Film Maker

Brad Strain's videography career began in Australia during his college years majoring in photography. Partnering with James Cole, Strain was commissioned to make a behind-the-scenes documentary for a feature film and soon found himself behind the camera for the feature, instead. While the documentary was never finished, the feature film was cut and released at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival. Strain's creative partnership with Cole continued through the late 1990‘s as they produced short films, music videos and fundraising trailers for independent films.

With a discerning eye and a quick-hand, Strain quickly became a sought-after videographer for time-based events where flexibility and resourcefulness are preferred over hours of lighting and equipment setup. With a focus on finding the narrative within each event, Strain's ability to capture intimate moments and highlight the extraordinary are nonpareil.

In his own words Strain describes his filming approach, "I have a passion for showing what happens behind the scenes, and I know that not everyone has a chance to experience events that way. I've been shooting film for many, many years and it has fine-tuned my understanding of human behavior. This insight helps me capture the human element and highlight the insider moments without exploiting them. For me, filmmaking is personal."

It is from Strain's ability to capture unique event characteristics that Scared of Genre's reputation for quality filmmaking has developed. With a team of videographers supporting Strain's vision of the unique and remarkable, you can be sure that your Scared of Genre video will capture the best side of your event, company, campaign, or product.
